Yes, that’s right, our very own Warwick Davis impersonator Mark Day. He’s sponsored this year by long serving former LLCC player Stephen Butterfield.

We were worried that given Daisy’s promise of a ‘big knock’ for the last decade that nobody would come forward, but old friend and batting partner Butters has decided to carry the burden this year!

Mark is a stalwart at Long Lee. If you cut him in half he bleeds the colours, and you would be hard pressed to find anybody who has put as many hours into the club over his time here. As well as delivering sumptuous on drives, and Ian Bell esque cameos with the bat, Daisy (along with Rich) tirelessly maintains our ground. Without him, it would be impossible to produce the quality matches we have seen up at Long Lee in recent years.

On a playing standpoint, Daisy has been a top notch wicketkeeper/batsman over the years at the club. He heroically led the club as captain to the Wynn Cup final back in 2010, which still gets talked about to this day by many, as a highlight of recent times.

Nowadays he opens the batting, always looking classy early doors, and often playing bridesmaid to far inferior players at the other end. He does a lot of the dirty work and thankless tasks on and off the field. It’s only a matter of time until he unloads a demolition job on a bowling attack. It’s definitely his turn to be in the headlines after a few seasons in the shadows.

Mark was one of a few players to win an award at last season presentation night. He picked up the prestigious and sought after ‘Duck Award’, which has been held by many a club legend over the years.

Rumour has it he feels ‘bang at it’ this year as we look to push on in Division 2, so we can all look forward to seeing some TV worthy shots and a few lumpy coughs from a true LLCC ‘Clubman’.
